This past season, we dedicated
time and space in our trial gardens
to observing plants known to
attract bees, butterflies, and other pollinating
insects. Placing the plants to
confirm their attractiveness to insects
added a new dimension to our trialing!
Although we have always had an abundance
of pollinating insects in our gardens,
the lack of them elsewhere has become
an issue of global importance. The
mixes and single varieties listed here
will not only provide food throughout
the gardening year, but also act as host
plants for the entire life cycle of insects.
We hope that as you plan your gardens,
you will enjoy the plants, the insects,
and consider how you can keep your
garden a pollinator-friendly place too.
