WHY DO YOU NOT HAVE A QUICK ORDER FUNCTION? We have had several customers ask for a quick order function on our website. At this time, the cost is prohibitive in being able to install one. However, we are investigating the possibilities with our product developer. We will continue to do so and hopefully will be able to add a quick order function in the future. If you are looking for a quicker way to order items than going through each separate item, try our search function. Click on search (top right hand corner) or Advanced search (left hand side under links) and then enter the name of the items or the sku# and when the search returns your items you can add it to the cart. The sku# is the catalogue number then a zero then the price of the items. For example, if you wanted to order a package of catalogue #15 Record bean you would type 150185 as the sku#. After your search returns you can either add the item to your cart and check-out or add the item to a wishlist to create a saved order that you can return to at a later date/time. If you find this doesn't work due to slow internet connection, you can also place your order via e-mail, fax, or phone.
HOW DO I SAVE ORDERS SO I CAN COME BACK LATER TO WORK ON IT?
If you are registered with the website, your shopping carts are automatically saved. You can retrieve them in your account menu, in the 'saved shopping carts' location.
Also, there is a wish list feature that is available on our website which allows you to make a list and keep it saved until you are ready to finalize it.This wish list is saved as a saved products list under your profile for about 10 days and can be made into an order during this time. The wish list function is located on the individual price product pages eg http://www.damseeds.ca/productcart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idcategory=1607&idproduct=237
It is not where all the prices are listed – you have to click on the description of the individual item to get to the wish list function. Click on the wish list button and the item is saved to a list and can be made into an order at a later time. To retrieve your wish list and make it into an order, go to ‘my account’ and click on view saved products. To add the saved products to an order for check-out click on ‘Add all saved products to the cart’.
WHY DID MY ORDER DISAPPEAR WHEN I LEFT THE COMPUTER UNATTENDED FOR AWHILE?
For your security, the website is designed to time out a session after a period of inactivity. This way if you were to leave the computer unattended and do not return to it, no one else can place false orders under your name or have access to your personal information. To avoid losing anything you have worked on, please use our wish list function – see above.
WHEN WILL MY ORDER BE SHIPPED?
We begin shipping orders at the middle to end of January; after the new packaging has been completed. The reason that we do not start shipping until mid-end January is that we package the most current crop year available. This means that the crops come off the fields in August to November and we usually don't receive the seed until December-January. We prefer to receive the most current crop available as we have found that germination rates and seed viability is greatly improved compared to packaging from the previous year's crop.
If you require any items earlier, please indicate this when placing your order. If you require your order to be shipped by a specific date, please indicate the date clearly when placing your order. During the peak season (December-March) order processing takes longer than at other times of the year. There may be a 3-6 week turnover for order processing. By March, this turn-over is usually within 1 week.
We do accommodate rush order requests. If you need your order rushed out, please let us know.
PLANT PROTECTED VARIETY
PvP is very simply put a plant variety protection. This means a breeder has the right to produce and sell the seed for usually 7 years. It allows the breeder to re-coup breeding costs associated with developing new OP varieties. PVPs are only on OP varieties, Hybrids are a cross between two parent lines in a controlled setting, so unless another seed grower knows the two parent lines, reproducing seed would be more difficult. The law in Canada is very vague on PVPs, but for the most part we look at it as a matter of ethics – like a copyright. So as a grower you may grow produce from an PVP and even save seed for your own use, but may not sell the seed.
